Cats Against Racism

This is part 1 of 2 of Anti–Critical Race Theory Advocates Covering Shame.

CRT was born out of critical legal studies (CLS) in the 1960s and ’70s, though it was formally organized at the first annual Workshop on Critical Race in 1989 and credited to a collective of legal activist scholars like Kimberlé Crenshaw, Derrick Bell, and Richard Delgado. CRT originally taught graduate students that America’s racist history of slavery, segregation, and Jim Crow laws were all systemic, made possible by laws and other legal institutions rooted in white supremacy.
